EMC announces Jean-Pierre Giroux as new president

Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC), a not-for-profit consortium serving and supporting Canada’s manufacturing industry, has appointed a new president.

Jean-Pierre (JP) Giroux, currently EMC’s national director of skills and talent development for EMC, takes over from Shawn Casemore as president, effective as of October 8, 2019.

The announcement was made today at EMC’s Advantage Through Excellence – Future of Manufacturing Conference in Vaughan, Ontario.

With an extensive career in the manufacturing sector, Giroux’s experience combined with his exposure to EMC positions him well to ensure his success in the role of president, says the organization.

“With 20 years of experience working for the manufacturing industry – coast-to-coast, JP’s expertise, network and energy will be at the centre of shaping the future direction of EMC,” says Al Diggins, EMC, chairman of the board. “In bringing Jean-Pierre into the role of president, we bring someone from EMC who understands today’s manufacturing industry challenges and opportunities and is committed to ensuring our members have the tools, resources and support necessary that will help them achieve short-term and long-term success.”

Casemore will continue to be an active member of the EMC team and network, and provide management support with the organization’s various programs and projects to ensure a smooth transition and strong future for EMC members.

“I’ve been fortunate to lead EMC through a pivotal time of transition and I look forward to continuing to support Jean-Pierre, the board, EMC’s employees and members in the months and years to come,” says Casemore “Our manufacturing landscape is changing, and EMC will continue to evolve to ensure it offers significant value and support to its members.”

EMC has grown to become Canada’s largest manufacturing consortium and, with over 1,000 industry events annually, is the most active manufacturing organization in North America. Founded in the mid-1980’s and incorporated in 1997, EMC is responsible for contributing expertise and industry resources towards the success of nearly 13,000 consortium and online member manufacturers, employing hundreds of thousands of Canadians, in 60 consortium regions and spanning more than 450 communities across Canada.
